Fundraiser Screening of SHAYDA

Join us for a fundraiser screening of the stunning and empowering film SHAYDA. The debut feature film of Noora Niasari and starring Zar Amir Ebrahimi (Cannes Film Festival Best Actress winner for HOLY SPIDER). Executive produced by Cate Blanchett, the film opened Melbourne International Film Festival to critical acclaim and is Australia’s submission for the Oscars next year.

SHAYDA tells the story of Shayda, a brave Iranian mother, who finds refuge in an Australian women’s shelter with her six-year-old daughter. Over Persian New Year, they take solace in Nowruz rituals and new beginnings, but when her estranged husband re-enters their lives, Shayda’s path to freedom is jeopardised.

Please arrive at 5.30pm for the screening time of 6.00pm.
