It's been a great start to the year thanks to the support we receive from our incredible community.

So many people have offered us their time and talents — from free haircuts to donated goods, we can't thank everyone enough.

Getting out and about in Wellington

We’ve been fortunate enough to become a Leisure Card Partner with the Wellington City Council, which provides discounted access to council facilities like the pool, zoo, gyms and events. Thanks to this partnership, our residents have been getting out and about in Wellington, making the most of what the city has to offer.

Crafting with CanInspire

A massive thank you to Kirsty and the team at CanInspire for running another awesome workshop at the house. Our residents and outreach clients made beaded necklaces, earrings and bracelets, and got to take home a kitbag with tools to keep crafting! Check out the CanInspire website for more info, and please support this fantastic organisation if you can.

House haircuts

Thank you so much to Jade and Zhana for giving their time to cutting hair at the house. Over the day, 10 residents and outreach clients received free haircuts and styling.

Supporting our women into employment

One of the main support areas needed at the moment is employment. We’ve been hosting Employment Drop-In Workshops at the House each month, helping our residents with CVs, networking and job hunting. 2 of our residents have been attending a weekly business networking group too, which has enabled them to make new connections in their fields.

If you’re able to offer employment, job support or coffee catch-ups with residents who are looking for work in their fields, we’d love to hear from you. Residents currently job hunting include a Digital Marketer, Student Support Advisor, Care Worker and Policy Advisor. If you think you could help, email us at [email protected] for more information.
